Xess

DESCRIPTION

A 26 ft long serpent with patterns not unlike a deep green and brown colored boa. Two sets of arms extend from his wide shoulders and chest into hands that have small claw-like nails at the end of each finger. His hooded head sets atop his neck with small brown eyes and a curious tongue that tastes at the air in regular intervals. He wears little in the way of clothing if anything at all save a sash with a pouch for potion vials and a Black Gi with silver trim.

BACKGROUND

Xess was bred for this life, his ancestry being mixed and muddled in ways to try and create a stronger being for the purpose of being a particular noble family's bodyguard. Xess is the first survivor of the Noble's breeding developments. Xess'histar was a student of a 'monastery' in Rokugani where students were pitted against each other in order to advance in their training toward adulthood. While the Nobles had their own plans, the Master of the monastery loathed having to harbor such a creature and favored another. Most of the students were kidnapped or orphans, raised under the rule of their Master from introduction to death.

Meoto, the Master's favored student was gifted with a magical ring during his and Xess's battle in front of the Nobles. The Master had no intention of letting their pet project be more successful, thus, using the ring Meoto was given, Xess was defeated but not killed. Instead he was allowed to live without purpose or honor, banished from the monastery and shunned by the Nobles that created him.

He has since wandered where he pleases, though some day he plans to return and shame Meoto in kind and prove his superiority to his old Master.

PERSONALITY

Though he was never very personable, he showed vast intelligence and learned to perform feats of unarmed combat before other students through study and fascination before applying it practically. He never spoke much at all, not that most students wanted to due to his reputation as a man eater.

Due to the policy of their master, Xess often opted to 'finish' his opponents by consuming them. He found no fault in it as his Master had routinely cut Xess's meals for weeks at a time. If not for his focus and meditations, Xess would have likely starved between bouts. Due to his past needs, he finds no shame in eating what he defeats, be it man or beast.

With a lack of social stimuli, he prefers silence over the gabby lengths to which some parade their thoughts and feelings. Very rarely will he take interest in someone enough to speak to regularly, and that person has to show that they deserve his respect.
