Appearance:

Personality:
Typically people are first met by his charmingly disarming smile and if conversing with him people are always left feeling better for having talked to him. He seems incredibly genuine and honest (even when lying, which isn't done often). He knows the old proverb that one can get more with honey then vinegar and makes shrewd use of his people skills often to make contacts, friends, influence events towards his desired ends and the like.

Background:
He was born the sickly son of a loving but ruthless and powerful business merchant near Dragonport. His mother died when he was very young and his father raised him in his business. While growing up he learned from his father how to 'negotiate' with people and started helping directly occasionally in his teens. However due to his sickly nature he was just as prone to being bed bound fighting off yet another contracted illness. On Valens 21st birthday he contracted a magical illness that was determined to take his life in a few days. His father saw his sons worsening condition and this time clerical intervention wasn't healing his son. The clerics estimated his son would die in a few days and there was nothing they could do. A friend and customer of his father's who dabbled in the dark arts provided Valens with another alternative, that of undeath. After much consideration and discussion with his father the prospect of "never being sick again" and "not dying" outweighed the negatives for them both it was decided. His father contacted and made expedited arrangements to meet a dark arts wielder know of great power in some more shady circles. They met the potent necromancer and were told the price; Valens's inheritance of his father's business and that this wasn't going to be a 'pleasant' ritual. With their backs against the wall, not being in a position to say no they both accepted the steep price. The necromancer led Valens down a flight of several stairs into a large room filled with several other robed figures. The room itself radiated a sense of intense vileness and evil. With his father's help he reluctantly climbed onto an alter in the middle of the room with others (Elissa Stormwind) where the dark and very painful ritual took place for all. It was done, undeath was achieved and the price paid.

However, many years past since that day. Valens worked with his father until his father's passing. After that he 'managed' the necromancer's business like he did his fathers. After 8 years or so after his father's passing he stopped hearing from the Necromancer too (not knowing where he lived as he came to see valens for his cut of business profits Valens just figured he died). One day he decided to close up the Necromancer's shop and never went back (it wasn't his by legal contract anyway). He decided he wanted to try something new and explore other lines of work his talents would be good for. He thought, 'perhaps my talents could prove useful in the line of work adventurers do..'.

(1/30/2012) Recently during one of his business transactions with a customer who happened to be a priest a fated event occurred, the priest said he noticed an aura of a curse about Valens. When asked for more information he was told the aura emanated from the top of his spine on his back and he would have to come see him and his other priests at their Baccob temple if he wanted more information. Closing up shop early that day Valens verified the claims with detect magic as he found traces of a magic aura on his body never noticed before (read: he looked at himself in the mirror with detect magic on). He then set out to the temple of Baccob in Dragonport to ID the enchantment. After some testing, they didn't know where it came from but could tell it was very very old (as old as he was it turns out). They said it was locking part of him away inside, the real him. He requested they remove the curse and with several of them working together in a form of ritual magic they were able to break the binding curse. As soon as they did energy warped over Valens and his form changed revealing the real Valens to be a winged fey rather then human. While staring at himself in a nearby mirror as the priests gasped as his new look.. he couldn't help wonder where this old magic originated from. Could it have been necromancers, or his father.. or if he was really a fey race known as a Glouria.. was his father even his real father?? Life all of a sudden became uncertain for him so he thanked the priests and left the temple.. testing his new wings he flew off in the dark of night to think of what this new revelation means.

3 The New Contenders 11-28-2011 1325 +691 +593(from sold items)+480(my 17.5% from selling items)+541 from Rydia 100ft of twine After signing a letter myself, Gato, shadow (read: Bayushi Ita) and Rydia were instantly teleported into a labyrinth. We worked together mostly.. Gato was helpful but pretty much insane. Shadow was kinda rude and then vanished… but I guess that's what ninjas do, am I right? Rydia was a very pleasant and friendly young lady. It was nice to interact with someone who wasn't a social misfit. Anywho together we navigated a maze, battled many monsters, Gato claimed to kill some giant bug (lol), and then we sweet talked a little red dragon out of eating us so we could escape. After escaping the maze and leaving the mystical warehouse we got another letter saying that there shall be more such "tests" as these. I look forward to them.. this was kinda fun.

5 Catacombs 1 12/12/2011 2550 392.75GP 4 chgs of inflict wand Explored a dungeon with Gato. Some little ethereal thieve creatures took his hat. Fortunately we were able to retrieve it deeper in the dungeon. Gato is a great door opener (no key needed). We fought some spiders, another etheral jumping creature, a bear, and then a large slime. I had fun making the slime 'fall' with my grease spell. Unfortunately so did Allusion however he fortunately survived. We left looting a large statue, dragging it off to be sold.

7 Catacombs 3 12/27/2011 1000 323 + 435(my 17.5% from selling items) 6 tanglefoot bags as loot used 2 chgs of Gato's CLW wand and 2 eggshell dust grenades We entered once agian the catacombs and found the top entrance caved in. As we ventured south our trap expert found another trap but it sprung on him. After that we entered our first door around the corner which initiated a long battle against a mage, large sized axeman and two nimble bandits, it was a close one but we eventually prevailed (thanks to copious amounts of grease and dust grenades).
8 Buying 1/2/2012 -1000 Bought from Balthazar Knowstone lvl1: Feather fall, Knowstone lvl1: Orb of sound, lesser
9 Infested Necropolis part 1 1/3/2012 1388 520 +700(my 17.5% from selling items) used: 2 charges from CSW wand, 1 tanglefoot bag Investigated an old Necropolis ruins under dragonport with 5 others (one npc:Joe the rogue). While being in an undead necropolis does in a way feel 'homey' the other native dwellers there were less then desirable. In other words we dispatched several aggressively twisted inhabits all the while kept getting taunts from a 'harvester' character who supposedly will take our powers and make himself stronger. Then Velmas turned two of the harvester's minions into undead zombies under his control.. well all enjoyed the irony.
