The Principality Of Zarthia

DESCRIPTION

A relatively small nation occupying a set of isles of the north-eastern hemisphere of the world of Arkus. According to (at this point at least) legendary tales its origins are that of a great empire of the same name hailing from the ages long gone. The decline of its (if it the lineage actually could be traced) is dated at somewhere between the Great Resurgence and the Bloodstained Age.

Government/Faith:
The state is basically governed by what can be called 'psi-cracy' where the most potent psionicists are expected to take the mantle of leadership. That at least applies to those who received sanctioned training which limits those options mostly to psions, erudites, society minds (and their sub-varieties like vitalists, tacticians etc) ardents and psychic warriors (with the last mostly within the army of course) while wilders are seen at the very best as inept at their 'craft', at worst as uncontrollable lunatics to be restrained or slain.
The same fate could be bestowed upon any rebel manifester in right circumstances as each psionicist is seen as both 'nobility' and weapon - and by extension property of the actual ruling caste. The greater one's power the more actual freedoms he enjoys as he's seen as being a greater 'catalyst' of the force which was guiding the nation throughout turmoils throughout years numerous.
The government (aka the 'Grand Council') itself is made from the grand masters of their own psionic craft (along with numerous lesser councilors mostly engaging in much more mundane tasks, mostly bureaucratic in nature) who then form a powerful variety of metaconcert each time there's a need to guide the nation out of more precarious situations.

APPEARANCES:

# Adventure Date Actions
1 Rokugan Civil War (preparations, part4) 01-12-2013 The party was apparently observed by a being using armor used long time ago by the elite members of the Zarthian military.
2 Rokugan Civil War (preparations, solo-scouting) 03-07-2013 Mentioned in the strange, partially translated, research log/journal found by Charlinia Coaldragon. The illithid author apparently acquired a thrall hailing from the times of the Principality's imperial glory, from the Shadow Tempests to be precise.
3 Doomcape Exploration (Darntem siege, part6) 03/09/2013 Lord Lartahrl (during Darnten Siege) was informed of the nation's very likely involvement with the Duke's offensive.
4 Doomcape Exploration (Darnten Siege, final ?) 03/23/2013 A team of Zarthian shock troopers entered the fray facing the party seeking to protect Castle Darnten's central leyline. Due to various circumstances (one being the unexpected power output of the party, the other… appearance of 'the beast of the south') the imperial forces were forced to retreat.
5 Doomcape Exploration (epilogue) 03-24-2012 The fielded zarthian squads were assumed to be most-likely decimated by the Beast of the South.
6 Deposit Investigation (Bloody Finale, part1) 08/03/2013 A pair of what could only be recognized as Shadow Tempests emerged from one of the portals appearing shortly before the Seed's awakening. The Zarthians threatened each one present to leave but after having heard about the party's connection to the aforementioned abomination.
7 Deposit Investigation (Bloody Finale, part2) 08/05/2013 The Shadow Tempests detachment stayed in combat, focusing mostly on the Seed of Retribution.
8 Deposit Investigation (Bloody Finale, part3) 08/07/2013 With the Seed being locked out in resilient sphere and Laos'Hes being chased by his own men while being engulfed in supernatural terror from Swirling Shadows's aura the Shadow Tempest detachment ended up being the primary foe of the party's these time.
