Dear all,
When I started Black Marches I wanted to provide a game for others that I would like to have for myself. A high-powered epic game where the protagonists can go from "farmboys/farmgirls" towards masters of the universe.
My philosophy is to play the game as it is as much as possible. While I will admit to barring Pun-Pun and infinite loops, generally speaking I do not like to ban things. I like to run challenging opponents that allow me to draw from several areas of Optimization that I've witnessed and created. I like to allow characters to run the full spectrum of optimization for each level. I have never experienced a D&D game from level 1 til 20 or at least high level. And, I would like the experience of DMing one.
My belief is that players need to optimize their characters for effectiveness, and they should not be offended by another player doing better than them, they should merely strive to create more effective characters.
TL/DR
Everyone is welcome to play in my games, regardless of level or expertise. However, please understand that my default adventures are high powered, and that for effectiveness you need to bring optimized characters. Please do not be mad about being ineffective if your character is not optimized. Please do not be mad at other players for being effective.
What I'm Not Willing to Do
- Cease High-Power Games: This is why I created Black Marches.
- Line Item Veto lots of options: 3.5 is unbalanced and many options merely have unbalanced opportunities (i.e. Shapechange into Sarruhk)
What I'm Willing to Do
- Offer Low-Op or E6 Games on Request: I don't mind an ocassional Low-Op game and I can work some of my plot with less power heavy enemies
- Listen and Respond to Feedback: I do want to make people happy and run a fun game for everyone if possible. Please give me feedback. If you say nothing, I can't do anything
- Help Players Optimize Their Characters
