How do I get Traipse to recognize $ as a symbol for retrieving variables? I've followed your instructions, but typing $ and a variable name doesn't do anything besides display $ and the variable name. Also, I tried using the get command, but it claims a variable doesn't exist, even though I called it immediately after setting that variable.

If my instructions weren't working for ya then that's because you're using traipse not openrpg most likely. That is I've only used openrpg so far and my variables walk through was based solely on its use in openrpg (as noted in the title of this forum thread). I am not sure how it is done in traipse. I'm sure it likely can be done as from what I've seen traipse is actively in development where as openrpg isn't.. but I don't have traipse installed on my pc so I don't know.

I knew it…it's kind of a shame. Roc would definitely benefit from variables, since he has three unique firearms (1d8+2, 1d6+3, 1d6+4), a ton of special attacks, and his current grit is added to his attack roll. Oh well, thanks for your help.
Alright, well when I get some free time I'll install traipse and test it and get back to you. We'll see if we can't figure this out for ya. However I can't give you a timeframe though. I gota lot keeping me busy at the moment IRL.
Alternatively if you have some time yourself you could putz with traipse and see if you can figure out how they work in there. If you did and figured it out, then please post some tips in here so others who also use traipse can benifet as well if ya don't mind.

I need to tinker with it a little more before I can say anything about variables in the status, but yes, it works.
