Half Dragon LA?

Half Dragon template listed here
By the book it's listed at LA+3. I have 2 questions:

1) Can the LA for half dragon be lowered to LA+1?

2) If not, then if I made a lesser half dragon template that had the same changes but didn't gain wings or a breathweapon, could it then be an LA+1?

3) If not, then what do I have to do to make it a LA+1? :)

+3 has always seemed a little high. +1 is fine by me. I approve of that.

One last question regarding half dragons, I was thinking of making my character's lineage be a red dragon as it would look cool being redish and great with my character's portrait (the portrait is of "darkness" from the movie Legend. Google it to see if ya want). However technically if my half dragon character has that dragon lineage then they're the alignment of their respective lineage (in other words if I choose red dragon, I'd have to be CE). Ideally I'd like to choose red dragon and be LE. Is that cool too?

If not I'll pick either blue or green dragon lineage so I can be LE. Not a big issue, but it would be cool.

The alignment thing is not really an issue… really by RAW it determines your starting alignment and nothing stands in the way of changing it later… therefore I can't see any problems with being a LE half-red-dragon.

La +1 should be also fine as the template is most beneficial for chars that are both large-sized (wings) and have racial hd's (the latter more true in case of monsters, d12 hd, full BAB, all good saves… tis a nice way to boost a mob).

Bottomline: LA +1 is OK with me.

It may be time to revote on this one. I would like to see the following for half dragon:

No Breath Weapon/claws/Flight/immunities, but each of these can be gained via feat.

-4 Str overall.

LA 1

If not, then just making it LA 2 seems fair. There is one active character using this template. I also suggest we just houserule all templates +3 and over down 1 LA in general. templates +2 to +1 would need a request, as would templates +1 to 0.

I'd advise making it LA +2,

I would also vote in agreement that LAs +3 and above can by default be lowered by 1.
