You could do PBP on the Roleplaying Forum. It would be inappropriate to have your NPC character positively benefit from an adventure. The only exception would be a stranger to stranger relationship where you craft or sell items for money from other PCs who are strangers to you.

I don't. Though, while you are here, I have another question. Jumping the gun, because I don't plan on it till I get used to you guys, but we can do PBP on the Roleplaying Forum, correct?

Also, if I DM one, is it possible for my character to be involved as an NPC and be positively benefited?

Note that my games run differently than Bill's. Bill uses voice chat, which is faster and clears up some translation issues. I will probably start using voice chat, but text has the advantage of logging. If you read the chat log for Bill's games, they really don't make sense.

The only grid combat GM right now is Nytemare 3701.

look up the Magebred template. It comes with a bunch of benefits and only doubles the base price of the animal. They come with training too. The cost is 2x the base animal's.

Nah. I have legit pack mules, and then the dog, my little packmule. I don't want it for combat, just want it to carry the stuff, since my character has very low strength. I am just going to use the standard dog thing. I do have another question though. The price listed for guard dog. Does that mean I get a dog who comes with the "Guard" training? There is no listing for a "Guard Dog" animal, so I was assuming it was a guard trick or Guarding trick set.

Many of the characters, mine included, are using animals for pack mule purposes only. If you are serious about your animal even participating in combat here, you're gonna need templates…lots of templates (magebred is a good one).

If you just want to have alot of animals all the time, play a summoner(Pathfinder) with the master summoner or SNA variant(or both but I"m not sure you can). Add in some 3.5 summoning feats (greenbound, ashbound, augment summoning) and go to town.

I looked up Animal Trainer fees in book. The Heavy Labor trick set says it takes two weeks to train, so I just paid the money as if I paid the animal trainer daily wage (*8sp) for two weeks. As for it coming on adventures, I use it on some, as more of a packmule.

A non-animal-companion dog would simply be a standard dog. Note that to act as a guard dog, the canine will need training in certain tricks such as attack and heel. Teaching an animal tricks requires Handle Animal and the skill is not usable untrained. That only matters if you want your dog to adventure with you at all.

I have been going through things, and while I like the ideas here, there are so many differences, I may be getting confused. I have made a character, and I was wondering if people would look it over so they can tell me if I did it right. Also, how do you guys feel about non-animal companion animals? Basically, the average man with mules and a dog. Without the Handle Animal skill, if I buy a guard dog, will he basically act like a pet? I know he can't be a seeing eye dog or a special K-9 attack unit, but he will behave like I would expect my dog in real life to act, right?

(Can't use links, but it's under The Bastard in characters.)
