On the first glance this exquisitely decorated mithral hilt does not reveal its true function. With the right command word, however, the item produces a ghostly edge and functions as a +1 keen disrupting evil outsider bane bastard sword. Its bladed end extends into the ethereal plane allowing the wielder to strike ethereal foes (assuming that the user can see such) with ease as well as ignoring miss chances resulting from incorporeality while doing so.
Alternatively, 3 times per day, the weapon can create a barrier of force. Treat it as the wall of force spell cast by a sorcerer of the character's level.
Additionally the blade empowers force magic of its user. For the sake of force spells and effects the user's caster/manifester level is considered one lvl higher.
