Brand River
The river ford is perhaps fifty yards across in most places up to a hundred further east, with a few reeds jutting out of the water to indicate its shallows. Walking a horse across could prove treacherous exspecially without knowledge about the high and low points in the murky water.
Crossing on Horseback DC 13 Riding - Thrown rider and horse takes 2d6 dmg, and rider must make a 16 swimming test or end up being pulled underwater by the current.
Swimming Across is a DC 13 with the same 2d6 dmg and being swept downstream should you fail. Lower because you don't start swimming by being tossed in the water — maybe.
