Location
The facility is situated somewhere in the labyrinth-like caves under the Serpent Mire.
The only viable way of tracking its location is by using some sort of mundane means as it is almost impossible to locate with supernatural effects thanks to several psionic wards which are still active (only Metafaculty can pierce it).
In general the location is intended to serve as a memorable (albeit creepy) dungeon in which adventurers of lvl 8+ can face level-appropriate challenges (basically average encounter CR increases with each new dungeon level discovered).
There will be some solutions included in the dungeon.pdf file to make it much harder for under-leveled PCs to progress past the point where they could still somehow survive the encounters .
Adventure seeds
1. A famous member of a well-known adventuring/archeology guild has gone missing. The only clue left leads our heroes deep into the Serpent Mire. Within a day-worth of some deeper search the party finds their target's dead body, still holding firmly his research journal. It is written in a very cryptic manner, and is clearly incomplete. If the party deciphers it they will learn of the existence and rough location of its other parts which in turn will reveal the location of the complex.
2. While traveling through the Serpent Mire PCs come across a deserted village. After short investigation they notice signs of a recent battle and some corpses … missing their brains. The tracks are still fresh.
3. After few tasks performed for a mysterious persona (a member of the Sanctified Minds in disguise) the party is asked to infiltrate a cabal of cultists worshiping some kind of alien horror in order to gather information about their main headquarters location. Soon the PCs discover that the cult's members are composed of many of more prominent citizens of Dragonport. After gaining enough trust of the head cultist the party is send to receive "the blessing of the deep ones".
4. During some other quest PC's learn of the existence of a vast network of tunnels under the Serpent Mire which apparently are very likely to still contain some ancient relics of the past. Extremely valuable ones. After getting lost within the caverns the party stumbles upon an entrance to the complex.
5. Being completely fed up with constant dream-battles with the 'the Hungerer' Altharid decides to venture back to the complex in which his existence begun in order to gain access to the complexes data bank - the only reliable source of information detailing the way his mind works.
6. At night… in some dark alleyway party members witness a confrontation between some humans which initially appear to be simple thugs. Not until both sides start manifesting formidable psionic powers, hellbent on obliterating the other side. The outcome of the encounter is highly dependent on the PCs actions. Will they aid one side…? Or the another…? Will they wait till they annihilate each other and question the survivors ?
7. During one night spent in the Serpent Mire a PC receives a vision from a Yuanti Pureblood in which the snake man promises riches beyond imagination should he be assisted by the party in "few simple tasks".
